Yea, so you know I do music. I write, rap, engineer, etc. Last night was a doozy. I cut a master for my groups compilation CD, Cram Session 3: For the Stripes. It came out great but the process was grueling hit the jump find out why.
My group and I have been recording Cram Sessions for 4 years now and it has always been a humbling experience. That's because of Cram Session's humble beginnings.
It all started with a couple of fellow artists we knew in New York. We were going to get together and write and record a short EP in a weekend's time. What started out as a 7 track EP ended up being 3 days of almost non-stop writing and recording that spawned 18 songs. What would we call it, we all wondered. My brother Pierre came up with Cram Session, nuff said...
Ever since we have been inviting MCs, singers, producers to donate their time and talents for a weekend of fun, fellowship, and creativity. At Cram 2 we recorded over 30 songs in three days.
Cram Session 3 has been recorded since April last year with my 9 to 5, freelance, family. etc. I haven't really had time to buckle down and mix the 14 songs we selected for the album. I had done one or two here and there. The past four days I've been up late with last night being the latest, finally going to bed at 3:30 am. The picture above says it all. If you are familiar with OSX or Logic Pro, let me explain. I had each song open at the same time with 4-5 of the songs playing. I switched on expose and took a screen shot just to convey the madness. My laptop handled the task brilliantly. I love Macs!
So I'll be doing some last minute touches tonight after I get back from picking up the girls in Boston. Cram Session 3 will be available Fri July 4th. By then I'll be rested enjoying some seafood with the family. I'll update this entry later with links to where you can purchase Cram Session 3, and with information on Cram Session 4: The Hunger.
Be good.

Grant Skinner is a BeastThis guy is so nasty at Flash and AS3. I came across these slides over at Lee Brimlow’s Blog. I didn’t even finish going through all 150 of them but there were plenty of best practices I came away with. I’ll finish the set tomorrow.
